The Rules and Penalties for Cock Blocking
October 25, 2002 - Dav "Wing Man" Mattucci (Columnist)

Friend to the DM site, Wisermind front-man, and all around swell guy, Dav Mattucci, has decided to chime in on an issue that shakes many of us to our very cores. That issue my dear readers is the issue of cock blocking - the act of a so-called friend preventing you from getting that fine piece of young tail that you so greatly desire, for what ever reason. Wasting your flava, if you will. So without further ado...

Rules of Cock Blocking and the Penalties There Of:

A. Cock Block Defined
  • Cock Block /kok-blok/ v. 1. To interfere with or obstruct another's attempt at courtship. 2. To delay impending romantic activity between two individuals.

  • Cock-blocker /kok-blok-er/ n. 1. Someone who takes part in the act of cock-blocking.

B. The Act of Cock Block in its Various Forms:

  • The “Standard” Cock Block (SCB) this, the simplest of Cock Blocks, is simply placing one’s self as the center of attention when a friend or male associate is obviously “macking” or courting a person of the opposite sex. Intentionally telling stories that evoke sympathy for oneself, making self-deprecating, cutesy, or stupid comments or anything deemed otherwise inappropriate to a woman being courted by another male associate; Yellow Card infraction.

  • An “Invisible” Cock Block (ICB) occurs when the male pursuant of a female leaves said females side and a male associate begins to either a) seemingly begin courting her in the friend’s absence b) speaks in a disparaging manner about the absent party. The ICB is an automatic Red Card violation. (See Penalties attached).

  • The “Unintentional” Cock Block (UCB) occurs in a number of situations and proper penalties are left at the discretion of the cock blocked. A simple example of the UCB comes in trying to aid a male associate in achieving a 1 v. 1, ie solo male to female situation while the courted woman is accompanied by a land monster (ie less desirable woman), friend, or companion. In this case drawing the wrong woman away, ie the courted woman rather than the land monster, results in the Unintentional Cock Block. The UCB can also occur when an associate is reluctant to leave the side of another male associate when an attractive woman engages him in conversation. None the less the UCB is still punishable; Yellow Card infraction.

  • The “Blatant” Cock Block (BCB) occurs when a male associate, without hesitation or an attempt at salvaging dignity of any manner, intentionally destroys, hinders, or impedes the conversation of another male associate with a female said male is pursuing. An example of the BCB; “Don’t talk to him, he has a girlfriend and doesn’t want to date you, talk to me instead.” This infraction is grounds for an automatic Double Red Card infraction.

  • The “Reverse” Cock Block (RCB) also known as calling “dibs” occurs when upon entrance or upon first sight of an attractive woman any male associate claims her as his own thus seemingly preventing any other males of said male’s party from pursuing that woman. This infraction results in an automatic yellow card, if used on more than one woman in the same night the penalty is upgraded to red and at any party members discretion leaves the offender open for a “free” cock block where upon any associate within the given party can perform a cock block on the offender without incurring any infraction.

  • The “Moronic” Cock Block (MCB) occurs when a male associate, unknowingly or not, performs a cock block by flirting, or performing any action deemed “uncool” upon a woman who is understood by all members of the given party to be;

    • solitarily associated with
    • obvious partner/devotee of
    • or exclusively courted by
another member of that party. This infraction draws an automatic Red Card.

C. The Administration of CB Penalties

Cock Blocking, as defined here in, adopts a soccer, or European football, style of penalty system. A minor infraction results in a yellow card (all party members receive 3 cards distributed to them by party leader), a major infraction results in a red card, and two minor infractions, ie two yellow cards, results in a red card. The application of a double red card has been made to define the severity of more grave CB-ing that the two former penalties described simply cannot cover. In addition, the Blue, or Wings Card, has been added to allow for a more working party approach within a given social setting (See Definition and Application below).

A party is defined as a group of people leaving together from a pre-determined location or as a group of people having planned to meet at a given location at a synchronous time. Any member of a particular evening’s party automatically becomes an intermediary of Cock Block and its respective regulations and penalties as defined within this document. These responsibilities cannot be waived, and if ignored the party member will be ejected from the social setting, or ostracized completely by other party members.

Everyone within a given party can call Cock Block in regards to anyone else whether or not the member calling Cock Block has in fact been Cock Blocked.

Any rule of Cock Block and its defined penalties can be overturned, but ONLY with party deliberation and a majority decision.

Penalties Defined

  • Yellow Card – used most generally as a warning. With the receipt of a yellow card, the cock blocked or any other party member can request next round as the most sever consequence of a yellow card infraction.

  • Red Card – administered after one yellow has been issued, or in response to any cock block, as defined above, that warrants an automatic red card. The red card incurs a penalty of automatic next round.

  • Double Red Card – administered after one red card has already been issued. The double red card infraction automatically incurs Next Round and Designated Driver. This penalty is also subject to “Bitch stay home” house arrest for the following week which disallows the offender from socializing with his party on the following Friday out after he’s been issued the DRC violation.

D. The use of “Wings,” or The Blue Card

The Blue Card is to be used in a situation when a male associate is in need of wing man. A Wingman can be called in to a situation for the following reasons: “Smothering a Grenade,” “Creating a 1 V. 1,” or diffusing any other undesirable situation a male associate may find himself in. The Blue Card is to be made visible, but not blatantly, in a pocket, behind the back or someplace inconspicuously displayed to alert an uninhibited member of the given party. Eye contact followed with a Blue Card designates a specific Wingman, while no eye contact and an exposed Blue Card designates only the need for any Wingman. It is a party member’s responsibility to aid the burdened associate if they are in fact uninhibited

A penalty can occur with the following:

  • An eye contact/Blue Card combination is openly ignored: Yellow Card Infraction
  • A Blue Card is answered and the Wingman, unknowingly performs a cock block: Yellow Card Infraction
  • A Blue Card is answered and the Wingman blatantly performs a cock block: Double Red, go home bastard.

Opinions, we all have them. Our's is not the same as yours. Sometimes it is, sometimes it isn't. The point is, if you don't agree fine. If you do agree, even better. Just realize this: everything said on these pages, is an opinion, and should be taken as such. If you are offended by what is said, just don't come back. Please do not resort to childish flaming or spamming of our message board or monk.e.mail address below, but do feel free to drop us a line with any intelligent comments you may have.

Thanks,
Brad & Tim.
